Just For Show
Just for Show is a dance-based show by DV8 about showing and showing off in a world where looking good has become more essential than being good.
Using virtual projection, visual illusion and word play, the international cast explore the importance of appearance and image in life. With a cast and crew nearly 30 strong, Just for Show features original music by John Hardy.
Showing from March to December 2005 at UK venues such as the National Theatre and touring to the Czech Republic, Korea, Taiwan, Ireland, UK, Switzerland, Serbia & Montenegro, Belgium, Spain, Hungary, Italy, Germany and France.
DV8 is a physical theatre company led by Lloyd Newson. The company has produced 15 highly acclaimed dance pieces which have toured internationally, and five award-winning films for television. Find out more about DV8.
Project partners included Romaeuropa Festival and Accademia Filarmonica, Rome; National Theatre, London; Théâtre de la Ville and the Festival d'Automne, Paris; spielzeiteuropa/Berliner Festspiele, Berlin. Just for Show was commissioned by Brighton Festival and received support from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation towards initial practical research and development activity. It is an Artsadmin associated project.
