Tic Ashfield MMus BMus (Hons) (RWCMD) is a BAFTA Cymru Award Winning Composer and Sound Designer in her own right. She has created music and sound for numerous projects including work for film, TV, theatre, dance, animation, installation and educational outreach projects.
She first collaborated creatively with John Hardy on the Cultural Olympiad: Adain Avion in 2012, and joined the John Hardy Music team later that year. Since then she has led a number of projects with John Hardy Music including the production {150} by National Theatre Wales. Tic is a music educator and workshop leader and is a visionary creator of new sound worlds for theatre, dance, film, animation and community art. Along with John and Benjie, Tic founded the distinctive and iconic sound world that is now known in 150 countries - the world of Hinterland / Y Gwyll. She continues to take a leading role in making the music for Hinterland / Y Gwyll series 3.
In her spare time Tic is a member of the South Wales Clarinet Choir and sits on the Advisory Board for the BBC National Orchestral of Wales.
As a composer and sound designer she focuses on using a combination of found sound manipulation and sampling, synthesis and instrumental writing to create bespoke soundworlds, often within collaborative settings.
