Sam Barnes

Creative team

Sam is a composer and producer from Wales. His composition work spans film, television, and experimental physical performance. He has collaborated, recorded and performed internationally with numerous outfits, and he regularly collaborates with the JHMCollective. Sam has performed internationally in Europe, North America, and Australia, and has recorded with various artists, working currently with Part Time Signals and most notably with Boy Azooga.

Among Sam’s television credits are Death Valley (BBC, 2026), Still Waters (Channel 4 / S4C, 2026), The One That Got Away (BBC / S4C, 2025), Tree On A Hill (BBC / S4C, 2024), The Light In The Hall (Channel 4 / S4C, 2023), Hidden (BBC / S4C, 2018-22), Bregus (S4C, 2021), Hinterland (BBC, 2016).

His film credits include Grav (Feature, 2021), The Arborist (Short, 2020) and Steel Country (Feature, 2018).

In theatre, he has composed soundtracks for Storm.1: Nothing Remains The Same (National Theatre Wales, 2018), Iliad (National Theatre Wales, 2015), The Snow Queen (Storyhouse, 2022), Tide Whisperer (National Theatre Wales, 2018).

Additionally, Sam has collaborated on art installations such as Love Bugs with Sarah Taylor Silverwood (Chapter Arts Centre, 2021), Dyfodiaith: Iaith Bwyston with Paul Eastwood (Chapter Arts Centre, 2019) and Unreadings with Paul Eastwood (Oriel Mostyn, 2026).
